IRAN (AP) Iran says its top envoy is ready to talk to the U.S. and Europe about lifting sanctions against Tehran after years of diplomatic stalemate, saying Iran has a right to self-defense.
State TV on Saturday showed foreign minister Javad Zarif and his Russian counterpart, Sergey Lavrov, discussing how the two countries could discuss the situation in the Middle East, where Tehran has been blamed for recent bombings and kidnappings.
In a sign that the U, Europe and the United Nations have little appetite for any new round of sanctions, Zarif called on all nations to support the Iran-backed Houthi rebels in Yemen and called for a return to the nuclear deal.
Iran says it is ready for talks with the United States, European nations and the U.
“We are ready to consider such dialogue as a positive step in the right direction, Zarifeh said.
